Can You Reuse Lace Front Wigs?

If you spent a good amount of money on your gorgeous lace front wig, you might wonder – “Can I reuse it?” After all, you don’t want to shell out money every time you need to wear your lace front wig.

The good news is, yes, you can reuse lace front wigs.

However, it’s not as simple as removing it and putting it back on whenever you want. There are specific care tips you need to instill to ensure your lace front wig is in good enough condition to reuse.

Don’t worry, it’s not complicated – and I will show you exactly how to do it.

Can You Reuse Lace Front Wigs?

When you buy something like a human hair lace front wig, the last thing you want to do is have to replace it regularly.

This is especially true if you spent a lot of money on a high-end wig or you found a lace front wig you love.

Thankfully, you can reuse lace front wigs successfully. It really comes down to how well it’s taken care of.

How to Reuse Lace Front Wig – Tips to Follow

I’ll be blunt – if you don’t take care of your lace front wig, you won’t be able to reuse it, as it will be in poor condition.

Don’t panic, though. Caring for your lace front wig so it can be reused isn’t complicated or time-consuming.

Here are my top tips for caring for a lace front wig so it can be reused:

1. Wash the Wig Regularly

Wigs aren’t like natural hair – even if they’re made from human hair. That’s because the hairs don’t come directly from the scalp, so there are no natural oils to protect it.

That doesn’t mean you should refrain from washing it, though. It simply means that you’ll have to be slightly more peculiar about how you wash it.

When it comes to washing your lace front wig, the key is to use shampoos and conditioners that are specifically designed for wigs, such as this set.

Limit washes to once per week or every other week. There is no need to wash your wig more often than that, and doing so can be detrimental to the condition of your wig.

2. Detangle Regularly

Tangles will destroy your lace front wig.

Don’t believe me?

Then let the tangles build up in your lace front wig for a few weeks. Then, try to get rid of the tangles. Not only will you lose a lot of strands, but you’ll likely be unable to remove all of the knots, leaving you with a matted mess.

That said, it is imperative to detangle your wig regularly.

I like the Ashine Detangler Two-Piece Set because it has everything you need to successfully detangle your wig – a boar bristle brush and a wide-tooth comb.

If you’re struggling to remove tangles from your wig, you may need to take it a step further and use a wig detangler before brushing and/or combing.

Another important tip? Always be gentle, even when you’re detangling!

3. Moisturize Every Day

Remember earlier when I said that wigs do not produce their own oils?

Yup, it’s true. And that means that your wig is going to dry out very fast.

Well, don’t let dryness take over your gorgeous wig. Instead, regularly moisturize to ensure the wig looks and feels fantastic.

I like the Nicole Alyssa Spray because it’s easy to use (just spray it into your wig) and moisturizes instantly. Not only that, but it reduces frizz, revives the appearance of your wig, and detangles – all in one incredible product.

4. Stay Away From Heat

If you bought a curly lace front wig, you might want it straight sometimes.

On the other hand, if you bought a straight wig, you might want to add some texture with waves or curls.

That’s fine and all, but you shouldn’t do it often. In fact, you should keep hot tools away from your wig as much as possible. High temperatures are the enemy for your lace front wig.

If you use heated styling tools, always apply a heat protectant like the HSI PROFESSIONAL Argan Oil Heat Protector.

5. Be Careful While You Sleep

Um, what?

Yes, you read that correctly. You need to be careful while you sleep (if you’re sleeping with your wig on, which isn’t ideal).

A lot of friction takes place while you sleep. The constant shuffling causes tangles, knots, and other adverse effects as the wig hair rubs against the pillowcase.

Ideally, you should remove your lace front wig before sleeping. If that’s not an option, wrap your hair into a silk bonnet to protect it and extend its longevity.

6. Store it Correctly

Your lace front wig shouldn’t be tossed to the wayside when it’s not in use.

Even when it’s not on your head, it still needs to be cared for.

To keep your wig in tip-top shape on top of a styrofoam head or a wig stand.
