Can You Use Glue on a Glueless Lace Front Wig?

Glueless lace front wigs do not require glue to secure – hence the name “glueless.”

Yet, many wig-wearers like glue because it adds plenty of security they can depend on.

If you are wondering whether or not you can use glue on a glueless lace front wig, the answer is yes, you can glue a glueless lace front wig.

However, I would recommend keeping glue to a minimum. Glueless lace fronts are meant to be glued down, so using glue too often can impact the longevity and quality of your wig.

Save the glue for times when you need added security, such as when you plan to dance the night away at your favorite club.

How to Glue a Glueless Lace Front Wig

Glueless lace wigs don’t need to be glued, and I don’t recommend gluing them regularly. The included attachment methods should be enough to provide a safe and secure fit.

However, if you do plan to use glue with your glueless lace front wig, you need to make sure you do it correctly.

Here are my simple steps for gluing a lace front wig:

1. Apply Rubbing Alcohol to Your Hairline

Whether you’re gluing a glueless lace front wig or another type of wig, you should always begin by wiping your hairline with rubbing alcohol. This will get rid of any build-up that could hinder the bond.

2. Place the Lace Front on Your Head

Adjust the glueless lace front wig on your head until you’re happy with how it looks.

3. Cut Away the Excess Lace

At this point, some extra lace will likely be hanging around your hairline. It is essential to cut the unnecessary lace to create a natural appearance.

4. Attach the Wig to Your Head

Now, you’ll need to use the included attachments to secure the wig to your head. These can consist of adjustable straps, clips, or other devices.

5. Apply the Glue to the Hairline

At this point, your wig should feel very secure on your head.

But now it’s time for the final step: attaching the glueless lace front wig with glue.

To get it started, apply glue to the hairline.

6. Adjust and Attach

Wait until the glue has dried halfway before adjusting the wig to your liking.

Then, press your wig onto the glue. Make sure to push the wig relatively hard. You want it to be secured to the glue, ensuring a perfect fit with no slipping.

7. Remove Any Excess Glue

After the glue has dried entirely, you can remove any excess glue hanging around your hairline.

The easiest way to do this is to use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol.

Alcohol isn’t the only way to remove the glue, though. There are several other options, including conditioner, oil, vaseline, and professional wig glue remover.

8. Style and Enjoy!

That’s it; you’re done!

The only thing left to do is style your wig however you’d like.

Lace front wigs can be styled in a number of different lovely ways, from curls and waves to half updos and low ponytails. Keep in mind that it’s a little trickier to style lace fronts into high ponytails, but it’s not impossible.
